Xchanging Supporting Early Intervention Program

In New South Wales, all businesses are required to have a Return to Work Program (RTW Program). This is their documented system (including policies and procedures) for managing workers who suffer work-related injuries or illnesses. An effective Return to Work Program can do much more for your business than just meeting your legislative requirements. The social and economic benefits can include (but are not restricted to):

  • early reporting of injuries -> allows early intervention -> early return to work
  • reduced cost of Workers’ Compensation claims (due to reduced lost time)
  • improved workplace culture as injured workers are supported through timely injury management and provision of suitable duties
  • setting an expectation across the business that injured workers are to safely return to work as soon as possible, and
  • staffing levels are normalised as soon as possible (improving productivity).
